Bluebirds are Happiness

- as seen by -

Steven Weiner Steven Weiner

I sometimes like to drive by towns near me and see what I can spot to photograph. One of these times, I pulled over to watch and photograph a red-tailed hawk when I noticed this little eastern bluebird (Sialia sialis) fly by and land in a bush near me.

I slowly got out of my car and used a telephoto lens to capture this photo.

Editor’s Note: This photo was chosen as one of the top submissions for Wild View’s Birds in Your Backyard assignment. Congratulations! Today is World Migratory Bird Day. Eastern bluebirds are resident to medium-distance migrators. Populations in the northern part of their range are entirely migratory, spending winters in southeastern United States or Mexico according to The Cornell Lab’s All About Birds.
