Bring Your Own Bag

On March 1, 2020, New York State implemented a bag waste reduction law asking consumers to bring their own bags to scale down the state’s annual use of over 23 billion plastic bags. Reusable bags help alleviate problems that plastic ones cause when they litter our waterways and other wild places and bring harm to wildlife. The New York Department of Environmental Conservation recommends carrying along reusable folding bags and placing bags in your car and by your door so they are always handy.

Or perhaps just take a tip from a chipmunk.

An eastern chipmunk (Tamias striatus) carries its goods in its cheeks. With cheek pouches that can stretch far beyond its head, this small rodent will stuff them full of nuts and seeds as it forages. Then, the chipmunk hurries on home to its burrow where it stashes the food for future use.

It’s nature’s version of “bring your own bag”.
