Small Wonders
- as seen by -
Dan RosenAs a new father, I’ve recently been reacquainted with children’s books and Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one I really like. It’s about a caterpillar that eats its way through fruits, vegetables, and even desserts until it’s big enough to become a butterfly.
My son is too young to follow the plot, but I hope it becomes one of his favorites, too. I know he’ll be into the lions and tigers of the world, but I want him to see that nature’s little guys are also pretty amazing. Then, in addition to visiting those big mammals, we can swing by the Bronx Zoo’s Butterfly Garden and check out their striking colors.
