Beauty of the Moment

It was a cold February day. The air stung my cheeks and snow fell in thick flurries. I had my camera in hand, ready to capture the Western red panda (Ailurus fulgens fulgens) in the winter wonderland at the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo.
The red panda’s dense fur coat was a stark contrast against the blanket of white making him easy to spot as he climbed through the trees. The snow made for a beautiful backdrop as I snapped pictures of the animal, its round face and fluffy tail making for the perfect subject.
Despite the cold and the blustery conditions, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe as I watched the red panda play in its wintry home. It was just the red panda and me, lost in the beauty of the moment.
