With candy-cane spines and translucent tube feet, this solitary two-and-a-half-inch traveler scurries across its habitat in the Wildlife Conservation Society’s New York Aquarium Spineless exhibit.

On an undisclosed mission, this zig-zagging echinoid perhaps will encounter others, but may yet be shunned by many for fear of a venomous sting.
