It was a very hot and humid summer day.  

I was hoping to get a picture of WCS’s Bronx Zoo Malayan tigers, Panthera tigris jacksoni, in the water. Tigers are among the few big cats that like to go for a swim.

I found one of the female tigers lying on the rocks by the pool to keep cool. She was napping comfortably. Every once in awhile, she opened her eyes to look around. I waited for the moment and got this shot.

Malayan tigers are Critically Endangered according to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
