Pay Attention to the Little Things
- as seen by -
Chris SpohnWhile I was walking through the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Prospect Park Zoo with my daughters, we meandered into a flower garden, and suddenly, it occurred to me that I had not been paying full attention to everything at the zoo.
Bees. Wasps. Hoverflies. Crickets. Grasshoppers.
These things should have been obvious. Instead of looking everywhere at everything, I was preoccupied with chasing what I thought I was after. I had focused on following a butterfly, trying not to scare it off, trying to get a little bit closer. I paused, and when I looked up, this differential grasshopper was waiting.
All I had to do was release the shutter.
