Beautiful Baby
- as seen by -
Gail RogersAnimals make great photo subjects during any season at WCS’s Bronx Zoo. Bison, bears, and tigers all enjoy the changes in the weather.
In the winter, it is always nice to have the option to go inside some of the zoo’s exhibits. What better place is there than Jungle World where it is warm. And what better time to find a baby animal to photograph like this silvered leaf langur (Trachypithecus cristatus).
A silvered leaf langur baby has orange fur when it is born. Over the next six months, it slowly begins to turn black, gray, and brown like its parents. I stopped by the zoo as this baby grew to take pictures of its transformation. This shot is from January 2018.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This photo was chosen as the top submission for Wild View’s I Miss My Zoo, I Miss My Aquarium assignment. Congratulations!
