Bundle of Joy

@Houston Zoo@houstonzoo@houstonzoohttp://www.houstonzoo.org Joy is the newest and biggest baby addition to the Houston Zoo. She was born on July 12 at 8:27 pm weighing in at 305 pounds. This photo was taken on Joy’s first day out in her habitat where she also met the rest of our elephant herd for the first time. It had rained quite a bit the night before. There was plenty of mud for little Joy to enjoy.
Joy, her mom Shanti, and the rest of our elephant herd are Asian elephants. The Houston Zoo also provides support for the conservation of wild elephants in Asia.
