Nature’s Work of Art

I find the Grevy’s zebra (Equus grevyi) to be one of the most beautiful animals in the world.

Their delicate, thin stripes create stunning patterns that are truly nature’s work of art. I used an extreme telephoto lens to compress the image to the point that the eye of the zebra almost gets lost in the myriads of contrasting lines. My intent was to create a graphic art piece rather than a strict wildlife photo.

Grevy’s zebra are Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Habitat loss and range reduction due to human activities threaten their numbers.
