Hanging Out
- as seen by -
Brendan LabeckMy fiancée and I are members of the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo. With membership and great memories from our trips to the zoo, we return every chance we get. We even got engaged in front of the zoo’s sea lion exhibit. We know each visit will be unique because the animals always make it interesting.
This time, it was an incredibly hot day. We decided to head to our second favorite exhibit (we are, of course, biased toward the sea lions.) There were a few brown bears (Ursus arctos) out at the time. A couple of them were running around playing when I spotted this bear trying its best to stay cool by chilling in the water and laying back on the rocks. The great big bear was the perfect model just hanging out for me to take this shot. All I had to do was wait a moment for it to look my way.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This photo was chosen as the top submission for Wild View’s Rock ‘n Roll assignment. Congratulations! Check out our current Assignment, Moments That Make Us Smile.
