Thanks to Zookeepers

Caring. Devoted. Passionate.

These are just some of the words that define our zookeepers that care for our animals at the Wildlife Conservation Society’s five wildlife parks.

Keepers enhance our animals’ daily lives providing for their health and well-being through positive reinforcement and conditioning. They are also devoted to the conservation of species through programs like the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan that aim to ensure the sustainability of a healthy, genetically diverse animal population. Their knowledge informs our veterinarians, animal managers, and field staff.

Our keepers are passionate about their work, inspiring our visitors, and me, their staff photographer, with their storytelling. Some of these stories will be featured during National Zoo Keeper Week July 18 through 24 on Wild View.

Stop by WCS’s five wildlife parks including the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, New York Aquarium, Prospect Park Zoo, and Queens Zoo and say thanks to our keepers.

EDITOR’S NOTE: This week is National Zookeeper Week, July 18-24, 2021, a time to recognize our keepers’ hard work, conservation efforts, and passion in caring for animals.
