Wildlife Conservation Society

Andrea K. Turkalo works for the Wildlife Conservation Society and has been studying the forest elephant population at the remarkable Dzanga Clearing in the Central African Republic since 1990. Based on individual recognition of each elephant, this is the first and longest ongoing study of forest elephants (Loxodonta cyclones.) Forced to leave the area in April of 2013 because of a rebel incursion, she returned in October of 2014 to resume work at Dzanga.
