@back_yard_birdie Graduating from white to vibrant pink, these firework flowers pop with color that attracts a variety of species like hummingbirds and bees. The tree’s cheerful appearance is undeniable. It’s filled with blossoms that resemble a cheerleading squad’s pompoms that sway in the breeze for a summer celebration.
Home court advantage is key to capturing images of small, fast-moving subjects. There are a variety of plants that are attractants for birds, butterflies, and bees including bee balm and butterfly bush that you can plant in your backyard. Or find colorful blooms like those on this mimosa tree that encourage visitors. Listen for the buzz of their wings and observe their behavior around the flowers. They will hover over certain blossoms and feast until their hearts’ content.
It was a race to the finish line for pollen and nectar for this ruby-throated hummingbird and her bee competitor. A tip, these are high-energy, fast-moving species. A gimbal head on a tripod is required to follow their flight.
