Did You Get My Good Side?

When the weather is warm, bird designs often adorn the fabric of many dresses, shirts, and pants. As I walked through the McNeil Avian Center at the Philadelphia Zoo, I could see the where inspiration comes from.

Along the pathway, the species of birds became more and more colorful. Then, I peeked through the leaves and spotted a crimson-rumped toucanet (Aulacorhynchus haematopygus) showing off like the crown jewel of feather fashion. Other birds went about their business, but this one seemed to know how to work it for my camera. No matter which way I angled my lens, the emerald-feathered beauty made sure to give me its good side.
