Hanging Out with Elephants
- as seen by -
Angela YangThe Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, is one of the most spectacular places in the world for a wildlife conservationist to live, but the stresses of every day work always seem to find me.
On these days, I locate one of the Land Rovers and drive through the Mara Triangle, the west side of the reserve. My favorite thing to do is to encounter a herd of elephants and hang out with them, just watching and listening to them “be”.
I took this shot because I liked how the female elephant was tucking grass behind her ear – possibly for snacks later. This incredible privilege reminds me why I do what I do.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This photo was selected from many great shots submitted for our “Wildlife in Your Everyday Life” assignment.
