Baroque Boys

The first word that came to me to describe these beautiful Sebastopol geese with their frilly feathers was “baroque”; that 17th century artistic style defined by ornate decoration and exaggerated motion.

I call this group my “Baroque Boys” because of this. I’ve named them after classical composers Vivaldi, Bach (Johann Sebastian, of course), Handel, Purcell and Scarlatti. The cacophony of honks, the shaking and jiggling of wings and bodies as they respond to my calls confirms my first impression. They may not be as dignified as some of my favorite composers, but their beauty is definitely most fitting.
