Assignment Open From
Feb 23 - Mar 23, 2015
PLEASE NOTE: For this assignment, we’re offering an incentive. The author of the featured photo chosen by our readers will receive a Patagonia Black Hole Backpack, perfect for transporting your gear to the office, the crag, or the beach.
This camera trap (or trail camera) photo by John Bates is striking and it would likely have been quite difficult to get in person, even for the most patient, stealth photographer. Of course, therein lies the magic of the camera trap: to transport us to a wild scene we’d likely otherwise miss.
Have you set up similar equipment in your backyard, allowing an animal’s movements to trigger the camera as it passes by?
For our next assignment, we’ve partnered with Nature Up North, a project of St. Lawrence University, and the St. Lawrence County Chamber, to celebrate this tool. So show us the wild world through the lens of your camera trap.
Our editorial team will choose the best submissions based on appeal, composition, originality, and technical quality. A group of chosen shots for this assignment will be posted on this page and one will even be featured.
Please choose your photos wisely. We can consider a maximum of two submissions per contributor. Get us your favorite.
