Pink Angel Touchdown

One day, I looked up on the copula roof of the neighbors dock and saw six of the prettiest pink birds I could imagine. I didn’t know what these birds were that frequented my dock on the Broward River. I looked online and identified them as roseate spoonbills, among the most colorful wading birds found in Florida. They quickly became some of my favorite photo subjects.

A friend and fellow photographer told me of a nesting area near Felsmere, Florida called the “Stick Marsh” (aka T.M. Goodwin Waterfowl Management Area) that is one of their local breeding sites. I captured the landing of this beautiful roseate spoonbill with its wings up as it touched down on the bank to feed.

Pink angel touchdown aptly describes this scene as we head into the close of the 2015 football season.
