WCS Zoos and Aquarium 2017 Calendar Contest
Assignment & Contest Open From
Jul 5 - Aug 7, 2016
From the year it opened its gates in 1899, the Bronx Zoo has had an official photographer. Elwin Roswell Sanborn was the first. He worked for much of the early 1900s capturing each species that came through the door in breathtaking black and white.
Today, photographers—from our official staffer Julie Larsen Maher, to the exceptional amateurs that make regular visits—remain a fixture at our four zoos and aquarium. Their work furthers our Wildlife Conservation Society mission of inspiring the public to care about wildlife and wild places.
That’s why this summer, we’re launching a new kind of contest. Send us your best animal photographs from the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, New York Aquarium, Prospect Park Zoo, and Queens Zoo, and the favorites, as voted on by the public, will be used in our 2017 Wild View Calendar.
Tigers and gorillas at the Bronx Zoo, snow leopards at Central Park Zoo, sea lions and sea otters at the New York Aquarium, baboons and red pandas at Prospect Park Zoo, and bears and bison at the Queens Zoo—these are just some of the animals that make great picture subjects.
We can consider a maximum of four per contributor, so get us your favorites.
ENTER FOR A CHANCE TO WIN
For this assignment, we’re offering a prize incentive. Those who submit the 12 photos chosen for the calendar will each receive Wildlife Conservation Society Family Premium Membership, plus five copies of the printed calendar. See the official Contest Rules.
