Gelada baboons live in groups with a strong social structure. Female family members can stay connected throughout their lives and are joined by a dominant male as part of their harem.

At the Wilhelma Zoo in Stuttgart, Germany, baboon bonds are a benefit when the weather turns brisk. They can gather closely and continue their hair care through social grooming.

Gelada numbers are threatened in their high mountain home in Ethiopia. Wilhelma Zoo has a large family of 46 geladas with two adult males in two harems, one of the most important breeding groups in Europe.

What an amazing photo! Textures are beautiful and I can almost feel the warmth.
